FREE SEMINAR : BREAKTHROUGHS IN MINE SIMULATION

Modelling capacity has grown exponentially in recent years. There has been a step change in the ability to forecast seismic risk, subsidence, excavation stability and ground support performance. More data can be used for calibration of models than ever before, and it is feasible to produce probabilistic estimates of outcomes for a wide range of mining problems.

Coupled with better scheduling and design tools, the detailed forecasting achieves much better estimates of likely mine performance in the design stage. BAE, with contributions from AST will hold a free one day seminar and training session on these recent advances in mine performance forecasting.

All managers, geotechnical engineers and planning engineers responsible for forecasting mine performance would benefit from the seminar. The training session will focus on case studies and in the following:

  • Why non-linear mine-scale modelling is the new minimum standard
  • Potential fatal flaws in some current design methods
  • Monitoring and calibration for high precision performance forecasting
  • True representations of rockmass damage in modelling—can FOS be eliminated?
  • Probabilistic modelling
    Life-of-mine seismic hazard analysis
Deterministic Forecasting of subsidence and regional deformation
    Infrastructure damage
    Effects of faulting
  • Case studies
    Extreme drive deformation
    Mining in extreme environments
    Open pit stability
    Cave propagation
Deterministic modelling of mine wide ground support
  • Rapid, user friendly Discrete Element modelling of flow
  • Caving
  • Modelling of Life of Mine cave draw using mineCAVE by AST
